Why are we "ANTI"?

While reading the latest headlines today Foxnews.com I noticed this headline "Anti-Gay School Day Boosted". After reading the article it is quite clear that this is a Christian organization promoting the lifstyle of Homosexuality as sinful. But when the media references this as being Anti-gay or Against-gay. This in turn makes us seem like we are against the person who is gay. This is not the case. Instead we believe the lifestyle is wrong but the person is still a wonderful creation by God Almighty. In the same way I believe our mainline culture has promoted divorce as a way of life. Because I do not agree with this lifestyle does not mean I am against the person who is getting the divorce or do not love that person. Us as Bible believing Christians also get a negative spin lable on us when we disagree with abortion. Of course people who agree with abortion are "Pro-Choice" but we are considered "Anti-Abortion" as opposed to "Pro-Life". Why is there a double standard? Why are we portrayed in a negative light? Are our views really "Anti"? Can someone help me understand?

Driving many miles??

Over the course of the last month I have driven many miles. Total since Feburary 24 I have driven over 2700 miles. In the time I have covered the states of Indiana, Illionios, Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Two different times driving from my house just north of little Graysville, In to Indianapolis, In which is about a 100 mile trip. During these long drives a person tends to realize some things that normally one does not see. Here are just a few of the great visions of learning I have had:

1. It is possible to eat a sandwhich with two hands while driving 80 MPH
2. After the first 4 hours of driving your voice will start to become hoarse
3. It is possible to go 620 miles in 8 1/2 hours
4. One can drink 2 bottles of Mountain Dew and not take a bathroom break
5. Jackson, Ms is the only town that requires all gas to be prepaid
6. You can go 3000 miles over your due oil change
7. You can watch T.V. from another persons car if you drive close enough behind them
8. Everyone looks at you as you pass them on the left, but only about half look when you pass them on the right
10. More cops patrol the southern 50 miles of I-57 than any other stretch of interstate
11. The sportier the car the slower they will drive
12. 50% of people are on their cell phone while driving

This is by no means an exhaustive list and you might want to add some of your own. I don't understand some of these but maybe you do. Can you help me understand?

For all the Romantic Deficient Men

In this post I am going to do a reversal and try to Help You Understand with the "You" being those of us of male origin. I am by no means an expert on relationships or love. For I myself have been through failures and bad moments in the few relationships that I have had. But I can say with gladness that I am great friends with ALL the women I have dated. I have tried to learn through my mistakes and do better the next time. For almost 3 years I had not dated anyone and the "romantic" ideas one has tend to disappear. There were times during Valetines that I had some ideas come but never a flood of great romantic doings. I now am dating a very beautiful woman back in Indiana and now I sense that those creative ideas are starting to come back. I want to share some of these ideas with those men out there who seem to not know what to do for that special lady. Here are the ideas that I have had and have used:

*picnic at a log cabin in the woods
*dance to that favorite song under the stars
*rose on the car
*sending an "invitation" to a dinner and dance that you have fixed
*have a blanket on the hood of the car and star gaze (guys keep this one clean)
*place little notes where only they can find them
*can never go wrong with a dozen roses but what about giving them when there is no special ocassion?
*rent or buy that movie she always says she wants to see but keep it a secret until you play it
*call her with your cell and explain how you wish you could see her, after she says the same thing then say "knock, knock, knock" as you knock on her door

These are just a few things that can be done. The important thing to remember is that if you pay attention and listen to your lady then ideas will come. My sweet lady told me how she loves short verses in the Bible, I also know that her favorite candy is a reeses peanut butter cup. I combined these two ideas by printing out a bunch of short verses and taping them to the back of a single pack of reeses. I would then hid them in places for her to find. I have since ran out and have to make some new ones. The point is I listened to her to give me the ideas that I have had. Now we are all experts in music and know what we like but there are those times when we can't seem to find that "great" song. Well let me pass a few on to you and hopefully you can find them usefull.

All Hail King George!!!

I don't try to get myself involved in politics very offten. They always seem a heated debatet that I would rather stay out of. But in recent weeks I have noticed, through our media, that we are under a Kingship rule once again. Oh yes King George is back or so it would seem. Am I talking about King George of ole that we told to shove it over 200 years ago? No I am talking about recently crowned King George W. Bush. Oh you say he is President of these United States not king! The more that I watch and hear reports on this president we should have a crowning ceremony and make him king. Why? Becuase in the media all events that go on in this world that the United States is involved in is a result of the decisions President Bush has made. These "events" are especially his doing when they are bad. He is the cause of people not getting jobs, he cause 911, he has messed up social securtity and if the connection could be made he would be the cause of the tsunami that hit in recent weeks. What people in the media fail to realize that our founding fathers built this government of our in a way that we would have checks and balances. The reason for this is so that one person would not rule all the people but the people would rule the people. Any "bad" thing that happens in this world that the United States is involved in MUST go back to the Senate and the House of Representatives not just the President. If things are not great in your area don't blame President Bush for stealing money and giving it to the rich, call up your national and state representatives that you voted to represent you. I do not agree with all that goes on in our governmental system, president included, but if we are going to put the blame on someone lets just blame them all. I might not see all this in the right perspective so can you help me understand?

What is this language we use?

How do our words affect those that are around us? Do people give a second thought if we swear? If I am supposed to be a Christian representing not only myself but also the Church and Christ then how are my words to be treated? I am seen many times while working in the mall parents cussing around their children but when the child (who is following in their parents footsteps) says those words their hand is slapped and told "you are not to talk that way!" Well why not? If it is ok for the parents then why not for the child? Is it because other adults would think that the person is a baaadddd parent or becuase they know deep down it really isn't appropriate? In recent days I have had conversation with those who were raised with fowl language in their family. The argument is that as long as the Lord's name is not used in vain then all other words are deemed alright. The other questioned possed during this conversation was that if one word is considered a cuss word the why not this one or that one? The truth is I really don't know with the exception that in my heart and soul I don't believe God likes it. Maybe I am wrong. But I wonder, if I use some of those suggestive words in my speech do I also use them when I pray to the Lord above? If they are alright to use then it should be alright to pray them to God. Did Jesus use "swear" words from the Aramaic language of his day? I also wonder that if these words are not so bad then why isn't that even secular society in the media deems it necessary to bleep out certain words? Or why do we have a rating system for movies and tv which state that it has "strong language"? If it was just supposed to be a part of everyday speech then why do we bother censor it? I can't answer many of these questions but what I do know is that when I am married and have children, that type of talk will not be allowed. Maybe I am old fashioned, and in many areas of life I am, but I also am a person who believes that God holds us as Christians to a higher standard then what this world does. This all doesn't make complete sense to me so is there anyone who can help me understand?

When there is no time

Why does it seem that time is non existent? So many things to do and never enough time to do it. I keep thinking that someday a time machine will be invented so that I can then go do all the things I never had time for. I will go back and study for that test, read that extra book, make that phone call, rethrow that homerun ball, and enjoy that dance all over again. Time is a precious thing that can so easily be wasted away but if I am growing in the Lord and enjoying myself while doing is it really wasted away? I might not get the 4.0 or write that bang up paper, but I will enjoy the time on earth that God has given me. How are we supposed to spend our time? Does time only move forward when I want it to? Can I ever make time stand still? Can anyone help me understand?
